Pusanweb announces our first ever photo exhibition and contest.
Who can enter the online photo contest?
The contest is open to everyone except professional photographers and those involved in managing Pusanweb.
How can photos be submitted?
All kind of photos (except those of a pornographic nature) are welcome.  These can be photos taken with a digital camera or those taken with a 35mm camera and scanned for submission. All photos must be in .jpg format and no larger than 300kb.  For exhibition and  judging purposes all photos will be resized to an image no larger than 800x600 pixels. Each entrant can submit up to five photos.

Images can be submitted in two ways:
1) Email them as attachments to [email protected]
For tips on how to do so, click here
2) Upload them to your own website and send us the exact URL
       (i.e. htttp://mysite.com/photo1.jpg)
Descriptions or captions of up to 100 words for each photo can be submitted, but do not need to be included.

Do photographers retain the rights to their  photos?
All photo submissions must be the property of the entrant. No images with third party copyright ownership are eligible for entry. Photographs remain the copyrighted property of the photographer; however, Pusanweb reserves the non-exclusive right to use any images submitted to the online photo contest in online exhibitions, publications, or for promotional purposes.

How will the images be judged?

Judging criteria include the ability of the image to tell an interesting story, showcase a striking aspect of life in Pusan, exhibit strong creativity, as well as demonstrate a high level of  photographic quality.  Judging will be conducted by a group of three local photography experts who are not participating in the contest (as entrants) or management of Pusanweb and a fourth 'member' of the panel which represents the voice of online users (determined by a web based vote). All photos must be submitted by June 16 (extended deadline) and final judging will take place on June 30, 2001 at The Canada Day - 4th of July - Summer Kickoff Charity Megabash.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, what are the prizes?

Two top prizes of 60,000 won (or a 90,000 won travel credit from Kangsan Travel) will be awarded.  One in for the category of 'People Photos' and one for the category of 'Scenes or Views' .
Four honorable mention prizes of 20,000won (or a 30,000 won travel credit from Kangsan Travel) will also be awarded.  In addition, each prizer winner will receive a dinner certificate worth 20,000 won.
Judging:
Judging will be done by email ballot from any and all Pusanweb visitors and a panel of four 'expert' judges.  Combined results from the expert panel will be weighed evenly with results from online voting.  In order to minimize 'ballot box stuffing', ballots must be sent from a valid email address and only one ballot will be accepted from each email address.  Judging will take place in two stages.  The 'semifinal' round will narrow the field to eight photos in each category.  Ballots for the semifinal round must be received by June 23 at noon.  The sixteen 'finalist' photos will be announced Monday June 24.  Final voting will then take place until June 29 at noon.  Winners will be announced on June 30, 2001 at The Canada Day - 4th of July - Summer Kickoff Charity Megabash.
