From the editor,s desk
Gentle Reader:
Wow has this been a weird month. It has been fraught with adventure, charm, and discord. I've been living in Dante's 7-th circle of technological hell. Computers have not worked for me, no matter how sweetly I've charmed them, nor how many moodang I've brought in. Also, I accidently erased some pager messages. My apologies to anyone who submitted an e-mail to me or paged me that I did not respond to, or did not put an ad into the paper.
I've decided to use Hanguk mal, the Korean language, whenever Korean words are used to encourage folks to learn and use Korean. Let me know if you like it.
This has been a tough month emotionally for me. It is an anniversary of a traumatic personal experience and, I guess, due to the added stress of living in a foreign environment, this year it has hit pretty hard. But, I'm hanging in there.
Lastly, and most importantly, we've had some strange dealings with our advertisers. One refuses to pay an outstanding bill, and we've had complaints about the services of others. I don't know how to respond to these things, and ask for your help and input, i.e. come to the next organizational meeting!
So keep the good will flowin' to all around, and I'll be seein' you around town.
Your friendly editor,
Jon

THE PAPER JOBS:
Typing: have access to Dream Internet Café or NetValley, or an e-mail account.
Editing: have access to e-mail, and have decent English language skills.
Cut & Paste: be available on Sunday, and be able to cut and/or draw a straight line, and be able to use glue neatly!!!
Distribution: have a burning desire to visit cool places, and can lift bundles of newspaper.
Ad Asst: visit advertisiers, collect money, and have some creativity for making ads, and hopefully some computer skills, too.
A lot of the people who originated and continued the paper are moving on. To help out does not take a lot of effort, especially if there are a lot of people helping.
If you think you want to write an article, but are fresh out of ideas, consider the following:
* Review a Lotte Giants game, or a KBL game.
* Write a "What I did for the Summer" piece.
* Tell me what your favourite toilet (that isn't your own) is in Pusan and why (a potential composite piece).
* Review the attractions of your neighborhood.
* Tell us about your expectations of coming to Korea, and if they're being met.
* Explain the difference between Korean and Western age.
The Things in Truth
An English language newsletter about Eastern Philosophy is now available in stores frequented by foreigners all over Pusan. Look for it!
