Hi to all Korean readers,
Can any Korean reading this and living in Pusan help me please? I want to find a lost friend whom I cannot contact anymore. Her name is Kim Moon-hee and she lives in Myeong
nyun-dong very close to the subway station there in one of the block of flats. I don't have her address and her mobile number is not valid any longer (it used to be 011 861 1927 but I think it belongs to someone else now and I don't speak Korean).
She is a nurse and used to work for the Kim Hyogi skin clinic in So-myon (next to the footbridge). Her employer was a Doctor Back (or Park but pronounced "Back"). She used to have a friend who was a receptionist at the Kukje hotel in Pomil Dong, her name was Miss Kim.
If anyone knows her could they please ask her to contact Steve in England, she has my number, or to send me an e-mail.
Thank you for your help. |

I never thought that there would be a website like this. Maybe we should make more websites for the people from other countries. I guess that might help out foreigners in many ways. I was born and raised in Pusan. Now I study in the states, so I'm a foreigner myself over there. I hope you will enjoy your staying or living in
Pusan. |

Hey. Cool site, brings back good memories of 1997-1999 in Pusan. If any of you lifers remember me, give me an email, let me know what's going on. After a short stint in Thailand I moved to Taiwan, where I've been since January 2000, teaching English. I love it here; learning Chinese, making a living, having a blast, but I miss Korean food. Korea has many wonderful things going for it . There is one issue that they pass off as culture that is and should never be considered cultural .
They are the science of Infectious Disease prevention called
"SANITATION" or epidemiology. Each individual Korean seems to be very clean but their public sanitation is very very poor for such a well educated and scientific country .
It clearly explains their high statistical rates of Tuberculosis , hepatitis A
and so on . This will stand out in my memory of Korea for a long time . |

I enjoyed the website's history on Korea. I have recently written abook on the Korean Wat entitled "Destination Korea." It is a compilation of letters an officer wrote to his wife during the war. It will be available to the general public in late August, 2001. However, you may order it now at a 30% discount rate by calling the University Press of America at 1-800-462-6420 and referring to ISBN # 0-7618-2047-7. You must order by June 25, 2001 to get the discount. I hope you enjoy the book - Jennifer Willand Dilalrd, Visiitng Instructor of Political Science/International Relations, Clemson University, USA. |

Ooops.. Sorry. There is a typo in the message below:
Additionally, this message is not mean to be put on
the discussions section. -> is not MEANT to be..
Thanx.
ps. The reason that I didn't send out the message by
personal email is that I believe that somehow the users of pusanweb (should) have responsibility or a degree of it for having influences on those visitors who have little or no previous knowledge or information or inter-cultural paradigm about such numerous English-speaking cultures and their diversity.
Nobody wants a stereo type about him/ herself, right?
Dear readers, thank you for your patience and interest.
And dear global citizens with global etiquette, more
power and cheer to you.

This is to make a suggestion to the web master.
I think many will appreciate it if you put a kind of
notice on some of the ads in Personals for young visitors to Pusanweb (ex. +19 or something).
It's estimated that many pusanians, not to mention expats, visit this site for cultural experience, english-learning, info sharing, and many other purposes. Even if there is no doubt that the site has been managed in a splendid and wise way, I am not sure how many people would understand an ad like 'looking for s*x relations only'.
Some may easily say that it's a matter of how you understand/ interpret it. Considering that the english-speaking or english-learning population has been growing in Korea rapidly and, unfortunately, that it's almost the mass media including the cyber publication/ production where they get a rough picture or even the first impression of the expats, it's thought that there must be some guidelines
here.
Of course, the person who put on the posting can be of
any nationality. Still, the fact that this site is mainly
designed for and used by a large English-speaking population, we all should be careful in making some
messages public.
Additionally, this message is not mean to be put on
the discussions section. It's only a personal opinion
that is waiting to be read by the web master.
Whatsoever, I would like to say that it's a great site! Thanks for the endeavors and interest.
& Keep up the good work!
The concerned. |
