Dallas Club
Type of Establishment: Bar Location:
Right across the street from the US Army base's (Camp Hialeah) main gate.
There a big neon sign--you can't miss it. Review:
Oh, the Dallas Club. This place is the 'Star Wars cantina' of Pusan. You'll
never find a more despicable collection of hoodlums in the entire galaxy. Actually,
its not as bad as its reputation indicates, but it can get fairly raw in there
sometimes, and quite honestly, some of the people that go there aren?t really
saints. The seating isn't all that great either; it looks like they got some extra
lawn furniture that was lying around and just threw a table cloth over it. Now
for the good news... The decor isn't all that bad--if Day-glo, Heavy-Metalesque
paintings of naked women are your thing. They do play a lot of good music though,
mainly American rap/house, and a lot of techno and Pop (both Korean and American).
The place is open really late and its kind of an after-hours club; everyone ends
up there around 3 or 4 a.m. when everything else starts closing, and it stays
open till 7-8am. The bar and dance floor are small, but they're
usually enough to handle the crowd, and the prices aren't bad. There are "Juicey
Girls" who will hustle male customers for drinks, but keep in mind that you
are not obliged to do so. Where once there was a dark corner,
there is now a small private Karaoke room in the Dallas next to the bar. If previous
Dallas experience is any guide, it is interesting to speculate if the little room
is used for just singing...I poked my head in and found one of the barmaid ajummas
sleeping on the sofa. The post-September 11th base curfew now
keeps a lot of the soldiers out after 1 a.m., and has robbed Dallas of a lot of
its rough and tumble soul (and a lot of their business). But it's still a good
place to dance and go AWOL until sunrise.
