Back to the Beach
Haeundae
Korea's most popular
beach

There's plenty of shopping
on and around beach. Along the boardwalk, carts are set up selling
fried potatoes, steamed silkworms, dried squid and assorted sea critters.
An army of adjumas comb the sands selling everthing from coffee to sea
shell trinkets.

Haeundae is often the
setting for class, company, or club meetings. You will often see
circles of people singing, drinking, and/or playing games. The center
photo below was taken during an epic battle for a ball between two very
determined young women. It lasted more than 5 minutes and ended only
after a draw was declared.

During the summer, Haeundae
gets incredibly crowded, but when these pictures were taken(early spring),
there was plenty of room to build a sand
castle, feed the pigeons, do some fishing, take a stroll along the
beach, and tease the chilly tide. A few public restroom facilities are
available, but as the first picture shows, some prefer to use the everpresent
sandbox option.
