The National Pension contribution rate rose from 9 percent to 9.5 percent on January 1, 2026, the first change since 1998. It will rise by a further 0.5 percentage points every year until it reaches 13 percent in 2033, under the pension reform passed by the National Assembly on March 20, 2025.

Foreign residents employed in Korea are enrolled on the same terms as Korean nationals. Whether any of that money comes back when you leave is a separate question, governed by different rules, and the default answer under Korean law is no.
